Founder’s Message
The standards and values that marked Plastipak’s earliest days remain our guiding principles today. Relying on what and who we knew, we improved our products, proved our commitment to innovation and excellence, and made each relationship a true gift. Our history of notable firsts and remarkable achievements was made possible only by way of these invaluable connections.
Guided by our mission statement for more than 50 years, “Providing packaging solutions through engaged hearts and minds,” we are proud to be a global leader in the packaging and recycling industries while we continue as a business in balance with the environment.
Sustainability remains at the forefront of our operations with initiatives that continue to grow through the creativity of Plastipak associates. Plastipak is now one of the largest global and highest quality producers of recycled PET materials. With five recycling centers across the globe, Plastipak has substantial recycling capacity.
I can assure our stakeholders that Plastipak’s efforts are a continuing process. We are committed to making Plastipak a leader in sustainability awareness and action, a company that will positively affect the lives of its associates, their children and the generations of children who are yet to be born. As President and CEO at Plastipak, I am responsible for the long-term vision of the company and driving the company’s strategic direction and operations forward as a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and recycling of rigid plastic containers for the food, beverage, industrial, aerosol, and consumer cleaning products industries.
My goal is to work with our associates, customers and suppliers to continuously innovate and build upon our sustainability efforts to create groundbreaking packaging and recycling solutions for our customers around the globe.
I have over 25 packaging related patents and have been with Plastipak for more than 20 years, serving in various management and executive roles, including Senior Vice President of Operations, Extrusion Development, Global Manufacturing Processes and Intellectual Property. I also served as Director of Transportation for Whiteline Express, LTD., and most recently as an Executive Advisor at Plastipak.
Before joining Plastipak, I worked at Deloitte Consulting and Ford Motor Company. I have a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Ohio State University.
Michael Plotzke
Chief Financial Officer
Senior Vice President — Finance & Treasure
Mr. Plotzke has served as our Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance and Treasurer since 1988 and our Senior Vice President of Finance since November 2016. He has been with our company for over 37 years. Mr. Plotzke has served in many capacities, including his current roles as Treasurer for Packaging, Whiteline and Clean Tech, all of which he has held since 1992. Mr. Plotzke is also the Treasurer of TABB Realty and PAK Realty.
Prior to joining Plastipak, Mr. Plotzke worked for Deloitte Touche, Doeren Mayhew and KPMG, where his special focus was mergers and acquisitions and turnaround troubled company management. Mr. Plotzke serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Walsh College, on the Board of Trustees for Eton Academy, on the Board of The Rainbow Connection, a charity granting wishes to terminally and seriously ill children, and was recently named to the Dollars for Scholars Board of Advisors.
Matt Franz
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Franz has been with Plastipak since October 2011. He was promoted in 2020 to Chief Operating Officer with global responsibility for Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, our Global Development Centers and Procurement.
Prior to joining Plastipak, Mr. Franz worked for a number of companies in positions of increasing responsibility. Most recently, Mr. Franz worked for Amcor PET Packaging as Director of Operations Western Division for 11 years.
Mr. Franz is a veteran and received a B.S. in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
Thomas Busard
Chief Polymers & Recycling Officer, President Clean Tech
Mr. Busard has been with Plastipak for over 40 years. In 2021 Mr. Busard assumed his current role as Chief Polymers & Recycling Officer, President Clean Tech. He has held multiple executive positions at Plastipak including Chief Procurement and Product Supply Officer – Global and Vice President – Global Procurement and Material Systems.
Mr. Busard also serves as President Clean Tech and has served in that position since 1989. Prior to 1989, he served in various positions within Plastipak Packaging. Prior to joining Plastipak, Mr. Busard worked as an automotive die designer for Engineering Services. Mr. Busard is very involved in recycling and environmental issues, serving on the Board of NAPCOR (National Association for PET Container Resources) and the Technical Board.
Pradeep Modi
Chief Accounting Officer & Vice President of Administration & Strategic Planning
Mr. Modi has been with Plastipak for more than 37 years and has served in various capacities. He is currently our Chief Accounting Officer and Vice President of Administration and Strategic Planning.
Prior to assuming this position in 2004, he was Vice President of Controller and Strategic Operation Planning since 1999. Mr. Modi served as Vice President/Controller from 1993 to 1999. He previously held positions with Southland Corporation and Ampee Marble.
Tim Eppinga
Senior Vice President Global Sales & Technology
Mr. Eppinga was promoted to Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Technology in 2020. In this role he leads Plastipak Packaging’s Global Sales Group and Technology Centers. These are customer-focused teams that are responsible for delivering new products that assist consumer brands to “Win on Shelf” and ensure those packages are sustainably balanced.
He started with Plastipak Packaging in 1990 as a Sales Representative in Chicago before moving into roles as Beverage Technical Service Manager, National Account Manager and District Sales Manager.
In 2000, Tim relocated to Plastipak’s Global Business and Technology Center where he held several Corporate Sales Management roles. He also serves as a core member of the Plastipak Concept to Market Team. This team identifies and prioritizes the consumer-first focused projects that they believe are the next transformational technologies for the rigid packaging industry.
Mr. Eppinga holds a BS degree as a Packaging Engineer from Michigan State University.
Tom Jabero
General Counsel & Senior Vice President Talent Management
As General Counsel, Mr. Jabero is responsible for managing the global legal affairs and policies for the company. In April 2021, Mr. Jabero also assumed the role of Senior Vice President Talent Management. Mr. Jabero has been with the company for over 10 years serving as Senior Legal Counsel prior to his current role.
Before joining Plastipak, Mr. Jabero was in private practice specializing in real estate, estate planning and corporate law.
Mr. Jabero received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Wayne State University and his Law Degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.
Brittany (Young) Muneio
Director of Corporate Strategy
Brittany is the Director of Corporate Strategy. She is responsible for global strategic projects and future growth. In June 2021, she also joined the Plastipak Board of Directors. In her previous roles, Brittany was part of the Comercial team focused on Project Management, Account Management, and most recently as Consumer Cleaning Category Manager in North America. She has had a key focus on building customer relationships and growing Plastipak’s technologies. Brittany has been with the company over 10 years.
Before joining Plastipak, Brittany worked in brand innovation, direct sales, and account services marketing.
Brittany received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Psychology from the University of Michigan and her MBA in Supply Chain Management and Marketing from Michigan State University.
Jack Pacente
Vice President Global Sustainability
As Vice President of Global Sustainability, Jack Pacente oversees Plastipak’s overarching sustainability strategy. In line with the company’s long-standing focus on environmental preservation, Jack leads Plastipak’s work in recycling education, responsible packaging design, and low-carbon production.
As part of his role, Jack manages Plastipak’s emissions reduction, clean and green energy use, water stewardship, and pellet loss prevention initiatives. In addition, Jack directs the company’s Sustainability Champions Program, a pillar of Plastipak’s community engagement efforts, and coordinates all environmental reporting and disclosures. He is also involved in policy as it relates to the plastic rigid container space.
An authority on corporate sustainability, Jack sits on the sustainability committees for the National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR), the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), the Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA), the National Lubricant Container Recycling Coalition (NLCRC), and the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA).
Pedro Martins
Executive Managing Director, Europe
Pedro Martins is the Executive Managing Director of Plastipak Europe Operations. With over two decades of experience in the packaging industry, Pedro has honed his skills in the production of rigid plastic containers. He joined Plastipak Packaging in 2011 and has since held various positions of increasing responsibility, including General Manager of Plastipak Italy and Director of Sales and Marketing for Europe. In recognition of his exceptional leadership, Pedro was appointed as the Executive Managing Director of Plastipak Europe in 2020.
Pedro Martins holds a Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering, equipping him with a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the industry. Additionally, he has an MBA in Finance.
Evandro Pereira
Managing Director, South America
Managing Director of Plastipak Brazil – South America, with over 30 years of experience in the packaging market in Europe and South America, began his journey with Plastipak in 1997 in operations after having worked in the Merchandising area at Phillip Morris & Kraft Suchard. After graduating in Mechanical Engineering from USF in 2002, assumed the responsibilities of International Project Manager at Plastipak, supporting the organization’s growth in North and Northeast of Brazil, as well as Eastern Europe. He holds multiple MBAs, including Project Management from FGV, Entrepreneurship from Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business in Boston – Massachusetts, and Leadership, Management 3.0 & Innovation from PUC-Rio Grande do Sul and MIT Sloan School of Management in the Innovation Ecosystem.
Returning to his home country in 2017, after over 20 years of leadership experience, he has developed the ability to influence people and organizations to sow excellence on a journey of discovering their purposes based on their own values and competencies, thereby elevating happiness, focus and discipline to build a strong foundations in organizational culture to accelerate profitable growth in South America.
He holds a chair at the European Leadership Academy, where he was a co-author of the books “Senior Management Leadership in Difficult Times” and “Memories of Senior Management Leaders – A Legacy for Humanity,” and recently participated as a co-author in the book “Inspirational Stories” by Editora Leader, writing the chapter “Transforming Organizational Cultures: A Journey of Servant and Humanized Leadership.”
